How long does a website usually take?

Most small business websites take between three and six weeks from the first conversation to going live. A simple brochure site can be quicker; a larger site with multiple service pages, service areas and a booking flow takes longer. The biggest variable is content — photos, service details and anything you want to say. We'll tell you exactly what we need and when, so nothing stalls waiting on a file nobody realised was missing.

How much does a small business website cost?

Accepted Answer

It depends on how many pages you need, how much of the writing we're doing, and whether search visibility is part of the job. A straightforward site for a sole trader is a very different project to a multi-service site with local landing pages. We quote per project after a short conversation, with the price fixed before we start — no hourly surprises. If a smaller job would get you most of the way, we'll say so.

Do I need to know what I want before I get in touch?

Accepted Answer

No. Plenty of people come to us with 'my website isn't working and I'm not sure why'. Working that out is part of the job. A short, no-pressure conversation about what your business does and where the enquiries currently come from is usually enough for us to see what would actually help.

Will I be able to update the website myself?

Accepted Answer

Yes, where it makes sense. We'll set things up so the parts that change regularly — prices, opening hours, gallery images, news — are straightforward for you to edit, and we'll walk you through it. For anything bigger we're here. You'll never be locked out of your own website, and you own the domain, the content and the site itself.

Do you only work with businesses near Birmingham?

We're based near Sutton Coldfield and know the Birmingham, Four Oaks and wider West Midlands market well, which helps a lot with local SEO. But we work with businesses right across the UK — most of the work happens over calls, email and shared documents either way.

Question 6

Can you improve the website I already have?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. Sometimes a redesign is the right answer; sometimes a handful of structural, content and speed fixes gets you most of the way for a fraction of the cost. We'll look at what you have, tell you which we think it is, and say so plainly even when that means the smaller job.

What is SEO, and do I actually need it?

Accepted Answer

SEO is the work that helps your website show up when someone searches for what you do. For most local businesses it comes down to a few unglamorous things: pages that clearly name your services and areas, a fast well-structured site, an accurate Google Business Profile, and genuine reviews. If your customers find you by word of mouth alone and you're happy with that, you may not need much. If you want a steady flow of enquiries from people who don't know you yet, you do.

How long does SEO take to work?

Local search improvements often show within a few weeks to a couple of months. More competitive terms take longer — typically three to six months of consistent work, sometimes more in crowded markets. Anyone promising page one in two weeks, or guaranteeing a specific ranking, is guessing. Nobody controls Google's results.

Will my website work properly on mobile?

Always. Most small business websites now get the majority of their traffic from phones, so we design for the small screen first and let it grow into the desktop layout — not the other way round. That includes tappable buttons, short scan-friendly sections, fast loading on mobile data, and contact details never more than a tap away.

What do you need from me to get started?

Accepted Answer

A conversation, then the raw material: what you do, who your best customers are, any photos of real work, and any existing branding. If you don't have photography or written content, we'll guide you on what to capture and can handle the writing. We give you a simple checklist rather than a vague request for 'content'.

Do you write the content, or do I?

Accepted Answer

Either. Most clients give us the facts and we turn them into the words — it's usually faster and reads better than a business owner writing about themselves at 11pm. If you'd rather write it yourself, we'll give you a structure and a word count for every page so it fits the design.

Question 12

What happens after the website goes live?

Accepted Answer

We check everything is indexed, tracking is in place and the enquiry routes work. From there you can either take the site over completely, or we can look after hosting, updates, backups, security and ongoing improvements on a monthly basis. There's no lock-in — it's your website whichever you choose.

Question 13

Do you offer ongoing support or maintenance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A care plan covers updates, backups, security, small content changes and a regular look at how the site is performing in search. It's optional. Some clients want a hands-off arrangement, others prefer to run things themselves and call us when something bigger comes up.

Can you help with Google Business Profile and reviews?

Accepted Answer

Yes — for a local business, your Google Business Profile often does as much work as the website. We'll make sure the categories, service areas, description, hours and photos are right and consistent with your site, and we'll show you a sensible, honest way to ask customers for reviews. We never buy or fabricate them.
